I wish I could say my 2024 started well and, initially, it did but then tragedy struck and it took some time to recover from that. I can’t say I’m quite 100% just yet, but I am working my way back to that point again.
I did manage to come up with a rough plan on how to tackle this year after reflecting on what didn’t work in 2023. While I did improve in certain areas, I certainly failed in others. The main problem with this, in my opinion, was more my failure to achieve my writing goals for the year. Looking back on it, my main goal for 2023 was to publish my third book and I clearly didn’t manage to do that even though I could have. While I understand what I failed to achieve, I still need to figure out why I failed in that. It might be a general lack of focus, but to be honest that feels more like an excuse than an explanation. There are reasons I lost focus and that’s likely the problem. I know one problem last year was that I was not very attentive to my physical and mental health which I hope to improve this year.
One of the things I want to do this year is put more effort into my writing. While I’m still on track to publishing book 3 by sometime in the next few months, I want to put in more effort into my work as an author. That being said, I plan on releasing new editions of books 1 and 2 in the next few months as well with updated cover arts, a cleaner map, and a few corrections to cultural mistakes in books 1 & 2. What might be my most ambitious goal for the year is to finish writing my 4th book and, if possible, publishing that book by the end of the year or early 2025. That last part is a stretch goal, but finishing the first draft is the main goal.
While 2024 didn’t have a good start, hopefully we can make this a good year.
