Time Management

Hi Everyone!

Time management, I suck at it.

This weekend I had started recording a timelapse of a new colouring process I’m working on to make creating art a smoother process. Using OBS to record the timelapse, it allows for the option to pause the recording and continue later on and still see how long the recording actually is. It helps to create a smoother timelapse and less recordings to edit together. However I noticed something rather disappointing by Sunday night that took me off guard.

I only managed to do around 3 hours of actual colouring.

It was rather shocking as I decided to spend this weekend trying to finish this art piece. While I did spend time studying art and also writing both my fourth book and my webcomic series, only managing 3 hours of actual colouring is still pretty bad. I kept thinking about why I spent so little time actually colouring when it was my main objective.

I realized when I looked back on the weekend and why I was so inefficient with my time that it came down to being physically and mentally exhausted. My diet for the previous week was absolutely atrocious and I had barely done any exercise that I just couldn’t focus properly on anything. I ended up spending most of the weekend playing video games and catching up on stories I hadn’t touched in a while and honestly, it was pretty nice.

While it’s not exactly maximizing efficiency as we’re all lead to believe is most important, it did make me remember how I used to manage my time. I used to designate specific time to just play games or watch shows and movies which helped fuel my creativity and recharge my energy as it were. I had forgotten how important it is to enjoy and experience art when you’re creating art as well. It’s something that really helps recharge the mind and soul.

Bit of a ramble on my part today, but it’s something that struck me last night and I hope it helps!
