Sometimes life doesn’t quite go how you plan. Changes can come up unexpectedly and it can be rather difficult to handle. I recently went through something rather life-changing and I wasn’t quite myself for a couple days. But I really do believe facing it head on helps to overcome the challenges whether mentally, emotionally or physically. I spent a lot of time self-reflecting and thinking about who I was, who I wanted to be and who I could be. Most importantly I started to focus and think about what was truly important to me, my goals, dreams and ambitions. I thought about what I thought my purpose in life is and that gave me strength to persevere.
I can’t stress how important it is to get help, to talk to others about what you’re going through. I took some time to myself to figure things out. But after a while, I reached out to some of my friends just to talk out my feelings and concerns. One of my friends met up with me and we talked for hours. It was more than a distraction as we talked about what we were each going through. He was really concerned about my mental health and that concern itself was very reassuring. It was way more helpful than I thought it would be.
I’ve come to believe that having a purpose is the greatest way to figure out how to move forward in life. Purpose doesn’t have to be something grand or world changing, rather it should be something meaningful to you. For myself, I find my purpose to be storytelling. Creating worlds and characters, guiding them through a story, it gives me a great sense of accomplishment that nothing else has managed to do. It drives me to keep writing, researching and studying to be a better storyteller. But it also drives me to learn to be disciplined and goal oriented, important things that bleed into other aspects of life.
Most importantly, I’ve come to realize this is more of a new beginning for me. I want to be more productive and more disciplined in how I approach the important parts of my life. As such, I’m planning to revamp this blog. It will still be focused on Book Reviews, articles on Writing, posting Digital Art, and discussing life as a creative. It’ll have a brand new name, an updated look and an updated logo as well!
Thanks for reading my work and I hope you enjoy the content here!
Please take care of yourselves! You deserve to be happy. 🙂
