It’s been a while since I’ve given an update on the writing side of things. Am I on schedule for my book releases? Not exactly. Is it something I hope to fix in the next couple months? Most definitely. The past year has been a roller coaster of motivation, discipline, with varying fluctuations to my mental, emotional, and physical health. One of the main goals I’ve had for myself this year was to be kinder to myself whenever I miss one of my goals. I tried setting deadlines for myself to achieve my goals in both writing and drawing. Unfortunately, I’ve missed those goals more often than not and I’d rebuke myself for doing so. However, all this did was discourage me and make it harder for myself to try again thinking I would just fail time and time again.
But something I’ve learned over the past year is that being creative is hard. It’s a challenge to push through every day and expect a lot of progress accomplished each time. Sometimes even just a little bit done every day leads to something large and grand completed, just taking a bit longer. It’s not great, but until I can get back to the level of discipline and motivation I once had, it might be the case so at least something is accomplished.
Now for the schedule of book releases, it is a slight challenge knowing when book 3 will be released. Currently I’m thinking it will be sometime in the second half of 2022 at this rate. There is a lot more worldbuilding I want to accomplish to really flesh out the world and the events of book 3 to match the level of book 2. However the greatest challenge I’m facing with book 3 is that I don’t necessarily want it to be the same size as book 2. Book 2, The Legend of Nariko: The Goddess Prophecy, was massive as it had an intense amount of character development, plot progression, and worldbuilding to set up the entire series. In a way, book 2 could be considered the inciting incident for The Legend of Nariko series as a whole.
Another challenge, unfortunately, is that I found out that the size of the first volume I wanted to release for The Legend of Nariko is too large for print through Amazon publishing. As a result, it seems like I can only publish it as an ebook. I want to look at possible alternative solutions as I would love to have it both in paperback and ebook formats, however I will aim to have it published regardless by mid-November. It might just be an ebook format for now until I can determine how best to approach the paperback issue.
Thank you all for your patience and for taking the time to read my articles. I really do appreciate each and every one of you! 😊
