Author Update: Getting back into the flow of things

Hi everyone,

Last month has been a bit rough but I’m working on getting back on track. I’m currently focusing on fixing both my mental and physical health as both are tied to my emotional health I believe. It’s been hard to really focus on the goals I’ve set for myself and get back to it. But I’ve also realized that a lot of what makes me happy in life is both the artwork that I make and the writing that I do. It’s slow progress but I need to get back into that work flow I think.

Book 3 is roughly half way done it’s first draft which, unfortunately, is quite behind schedule. Ideally I’d love to finish it in the next couple of weeks if I can really buckle down and focus, but that’s going to be a challenge so we’ll see if that’s possible. I have the important parts noted and figured out, but the issue is twofold. The first, and probably most pressing issue, is just sitting down and writing the story itself. It sounds simple but when focusing is such a challenge it feels monumental. The other issue is the self-doubt if I’m doing it correctly. Both are problems I’m struggling with but slowly, ever so slowly admittedly, I’m overcoming.

I’m also working on a new hardcover artwork for the anniversary edition of my first book The Legend of Nariko: The Mark of Silverfrost. I’m redoing it because, after I had finished it and after a while I began to realize it doesn’t quite fit the style of the book and didn’t quite represent the character correctly. It made Thunder look more like a magical girl rather than a stealthy assassin. I’m also using it as an exercise to relearn how to colour as I’ve come to realize I’ve lost a lot of the artistic ability I once had. It’s going to be hard, but I hope to regain that knowledge.

Thanks for your patience and I hope you enjoy the reviews and musings to come!
