A Renewed Focus on What Matters

Hello Everyone!

I hope you all had a great holiday season! Mine was a bit more chaotic than I had hoped but it was still a good time with friends and family. That being said, I did miss a few goals I had set for myself, one of which is the “Top 5 Characters of 2022” that I’m hoping to post this month (had to finish a game that had a surprisingly good story).

2022 was not a good year for me if I am to be honest but I’m entering 2023 with a bit more optimism than I had expected. While I haven’t finished the draft of book 3 like I was hoping to, I have made significant progress which has helped a lot. While the draft is a bit behind schedule, it’s still on track to be completed by the end of this week. That being said, I’ve said this a lot over 2022 and it’s something I’ve been noticing. I’m having difficulty focusing and staying on task which is a massive detriment to accomplishing my goals.

That’s something I want to make sure happens in 2023. I want to focus on doing what makes me happy and focusing on improving in those areas rather than distract myself so often like I do. Really looking back at 2022, I realize the times I’ve been most happy are when I write, draw and read. Anything involving story writing and creativity seems to be what drives me. Even with video games I’ve only really enjoyed the single player story focused games to learn from those with great stories. I want to make sure I focus on writing and drawing more so this year as it really helps me to focus on writing my story which is the most important goal in my life.

It will be difficult but ultimately I want to become a far more focused and determined person rather than this aimless struggling author that I’ve become. I’ll be going back to the normal routine of reading and reviewing a book a week and then diving deep into what writers can learn from that book the following week. While I do also want to explore potentially including shows and movies that have strong and engaging stories, the main focus will always be books as that’s my core focus in life.
